Although the APA does not get involved in the Legislative process, it does encourage all members to interact with the Lawmakers of this Republic.
All,
The APA and its executive leadership typically does not get involved in political or legislative matter. On occasion, the APA may direct its participants to pending legislation and ask you to provide your input on such legislation. We offer you the ability to find your representative on our website.
A rather interesting statement has been made by a Gubernatorial Candidate and I must point this out to the players in the APA. It appears by the statement on this website, item 4: http://www.medinafortexas.com/getPost?p=283 that we have a potential governor that understand how a Republic is to function. Additionally, it appears by that statement that Poker legislation would be approved by this candidate if it were to reach the Governors office.
This is a complete change in Texas as the current governor told Representative Mendez that any poker legislation is dead on arrival. We can also conclude that Hutchison will oppose any poker legislation on because of her vote on the Patriot Act and her support of the UIGA and transference of funds to on line gaming sites.
I see no grounds to support the two Democrats that are running in the race as they have either failed to act on behalf of gambler sin their city, or they have no public stand.
The APA has contacted other organizations and informed them of the news. I also informed them that the APA is encouraging its players to strongly consider their individual Liberty and Freedoms granted in the U.S and Texas Constitution.
This is our best opportunity to elect a Governor that will act on behalf of ALL of the citizens of Texas and not a particular party. This candidate understands the role of representative in a “Republic”. This candidate realizes the distinct difference between a Republic and a Democracy.
This being the case, the leadership of the Austin Poker Alliance publically endorses Debra Medina for Governor of the great state of Texas . Mrs. Medina represents the highest possibility of Texas acquiring legalized poker.
The APA represents over 300 Poker players in Texas. The APA understands that a portion of players may not support a particular candidate. The APA only considers what is in the best interest of its players.

Provided below, are quick EMAIL links to your representatives in Texas. Feel free to contact them on matters that concern YOU, the Texas card-player.
An Educational note: Texas is a Republic. The Texas Constitution states that it is a Republican form of government and not a democratic form. There is a distinct difference between the two forms. In a Republic, the people elect the Representative to vote according to the PEOPLES will. In a democracy, the people elect the Representative to vote the way the Representative thinks is best.
The former requires the People to stay in contact and let the Rep know the way they want them to vote. The latter doesn’t care what the People want, they vote according to their platform or their morals/values.
